After hearing from people all over the YouTuberverse that the Benefit ‘Roller Lash’ mascara was their hands-down favourite of all time, I then did some follow-up research online to see how much the curling qualities really worked (hoping I might get a good effect on my dead straight lashes) and I decided to give it a go.
Instead of committing to the full size (and the full size price of $42) I opted to buy the half-size to give it a try.
First Impressions and Trial:
The first time I tried using the mascara I did so with the objective to really see how effective it was at curling my lashes. I used it the way the Benefit sales representative showed me – with the technique of twisting the wand while swiping upwards so as to fully utilise the tiny hooks on the bristles to pull up the lashes to assist the curling function of the formula.
The result was not as mind-blowing as I had been hoping for. I noticed very little signs of curl.
I then started using it haphazardly? as I would like any other mascaras. I curled my lashes manually and focused more on building the thickness and on using the curved edge to build and separate my lashes.
This resulted in OK but underwhelming results. It didn’t build much thickness but it did last all day and never crumble.
The positives for this mascara are that it separates the lashes really well with even coats and doesn’t crumble, however it doesn’t curl dead straight lashes or build thickness – no matter how many coats!
As a result, this mascara is a pass for me and I will not be re-purchasing. I think that for the effect that I desire for my lashes to be thick, curled and really stand out, the Benefit ‘Roller Lash’ mascara could not compete with my heavy straight lashes, and was not a mascara I found I could build easily.
However, if you think the qualities of this mascara would suit you even though it didn’t work out for me and my needs you can purchase both sizes from AdoreBeauty.com here.
Until next time!
Lots of love,
